The Hanging Tree - Ellesmere In Shropshire

Growing up in the rural county of Shropshire I have always painted and drawn from a young age.

One of my favourite places to visit is Ellesmere in Shropshire, were the mere a beautiful glacially formed lake and gardens was an idyllic scene to draw and paint.

The mere is in Ellesmere in North Shropshire and the main feature of the painting is a weeping willow tree hanging dramatically over the lake.

The artwork is painted in a mainly monochromatic colour palette with a hint of a blue sky and green leaves on the tree.

Atmospheric ripples in the water are shown in detail with the tree reflected dramatically in the water.
